Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, “May God protect him”,
H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan: The holding of the conference under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, represents the encouragement of His Highness to the field of science and scientists, as it plays an important role in sustainable development.
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, “May God protect him”, the 7th International Date Palm Conference will be held at Emirates Palace Hotel, in Abu Dhabi, from 14th -16th of March, 2022. With the participation of 475 international researchers, and experts, representing 42 countries.
On this occasion, H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, praised the generous care and support of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa “May God protect him” to organize this Conference, which presents the great encouragement of His Highness to science and scientists, and his Highness’s appreciation to the role of scientific research in achieving sustainable development, as well as his Highness’s interest in date palm, which represents an important economic, social and cultural value that has its unique position in the development of the UAE.
H.E. Sheikh Nahayan then added that H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “May God protect him”, continued to support scientific research and development, where His Highness is the founder of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, in response to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan “May God bless his soul”, who gave the blessed tree special care as one of the elements of food security. Where the Award works to strengthen the UAE’s leading role globally in developing date palm scientific research, date production and agricultural innovation. As well as Researchers, date palm growers, exporters, institutions, and associations.
H.E. Sheikh Nahayan then added that the 7th International Date Palm Conference, which is organized by Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, United Arab Emirates University, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as well as 25 esteemed regional and international organizations, represents an excellent example of the Award’s adopted approach in organizing scientific conferences, to present topic of interest to specialists not only in the United Arab Emirates but in the Gulf and Arab regions and the world, where recently a great interest emerged in date palm cultivation, and trade, until dates reached all parts of the world and which increased demand and prices
The fact that a world conference was held periodically and consistently assures its importance, where it encouraged scientific research and technical progress in the field of date palm, as well as clearly reflecting the keenness of various local, regional and international institutions and entities to participate in its organization, and success.
His Excellency then added that this year’s conference is significant by all standards, with the number of presented researches and studies in various aspects of date cultivation, and trade, and therefore it is characterized by comprehensiveness and depth, where it involves the introduction of new and advanced experiences from across the world, where the number of researches to be presented is 140 scientific papers, in addition to 71 papers which will be presented as posters.
The 7th International Date Palm Conference is considered a role model in terms of organization accuracy and preparation, as its preparation has continued for more than a year, and is one of the largest conferences held by the Award up to date.
H.E. Sheikh Nahayan then concluded his statement by saying: We hope that this conference will achieve all the goals for which it is being held to share knowledge and techniques of date Palm cultivation, date production and agricultural innovation, aimed towards continuous development and achieving sustainable development, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “May God protect him”, the support of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, the first supporter of date palm cultivation.
It is worth mentioning that the International Date Palm Conference, sponsored by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “May God protect him”, has been organized for 24 consecutive years, where the first conference was held in 1988, with the participation of 50 researchers from 20 countries, and the second Conference was held in 2001, with the participation of 123 researchers from 18 countries, the third Conference was held in 2006, with the participation of 447 researchers from 43 countries, the fourth conference was held in 2010, with the participation of 361 researchers from 42, the fifth conference was held In 2014, with the participation of 386 researchers from 36 countries, the sixth conference was held in 2018 and with the participation of 387 researchers from 39 countries, and the seventh conference which will be held this year 2022 and will be attended by 475 researchers from 42 countries.
